Peace Journalism and Post-Election Violence in Kenya: A Case Study in Democracy

Mark Fackler, professor communication arts and sciences Join us on Saturday, May 15, for a great Calvin evening with alumni and friends!

Our keynote speaker, Professor Mark Fackler, will present his latest study—done with two Calvin students and an African colleague—on how the media impacts elections in Kenya as well as share some lessons Americans might learn from the Kenyan experiences.

Prof. Fackler has spent years in Africa learning about its people and culture and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Communication and Religion, Journal of Media and Religion and the Journal of Mass Media Ethics.

We’ll also have fun with a “Calvin Jeopardy” game, and we ask you to come with your checkbook or extra cash to replenish our Colorado Alumni Chapter Scholarship fund (donate online). Alumni director Mike Van Denend will bring us the latest Calvin news.
